Updates

Featured Track: Gutenberg

This year, we have a special track of sessions dedicated to Gutenberg, the new editing experience! This project is the next step in editing content in WordPress, and is set to be released in WordPress 5.0. Head to some of these sessions to learn more about what this means for you.

First up, get introduced to Gutenberg by Tammie Lister, our keynote speaker, in The Gutenberg Journey, at 9am in the main ballroom.

These “gutentrack” sessions will all be in the Auditorium (link to map) after lunch, starting at 1:30.

There are also a few other Guten-talks – on Saturday morning in the Intro To WordPress track, Gary Thayer will help you Say “Guten Tag” to Gutenberg. Then on Sunday, you can learn about how to prepare your sites for Gutenberg, even if you’re running a network of university sites, from Brian DeConinck & Jennifer McFarland in GutenReady for the Gutenpocalypse.

Interested in these talks? You can still register for WordCamp today!

If you’ve ever been to a WordCamp, you know that the talks are a huge part of the event. We love that so many people want to share their WordPress knowledge with our community, and have had amazing talks come out of WordCamp. You can even watch last year’s videos online!

Do you have a lesson, idea, or story you want to share with our audience? You should apply to speak. You don’t need to have tons of public speaking experience, all we ask is that you be able to present your chosen topic passionately and respectfully (there are a few other guidelines outlined on the speaker application).

Of course, we’ll always have our informal tracks of content for developers, designers, writers, business owners, people just getting started with WordPress…

If you’re unsure about a topic you want to submit, we’re happy to chat it through.

Speaker applications close on May 13th, so you’ll have plenty of time to get your presentations done 🙂
