Sessions for WordPress Users and Writers

Of course one of the best things about WordPress is to use your site! So if you are a user or writer we have scheduled several great sessions on both Saturday and Sunday.

Of course if there are other areas of WordPress you want to learn about, there are 5 other tracks you can go to over the weekend! You can see the full schedule here.

Contributor Day — Sunday July 23th

Whether you’ve never contributed to WordPress before, or if you’ve done so for years, you’re invited to WordCamp Boston Contributor day. This is your chance to learn out how to contribute from the experts, hang out with others who love to contribute, and push some of your own contributions — all in one (well, really less than one) day.

We’re planning a fun, active and intense day of learning, coding, testing, documentation and hanging out. WordPress experts and contributors will be present to help you get up to speed quickly with how to contribute to WordPress. Don’t know exactly what you want to do? No problem! Just show up and we’ll get you plugged into a team that needs your help. Not a coder? That’s okay too — there are plenty of non-dev ways to contribute to the WordPress community, including documentation and more.

Just bring your own laptop and we’ll take care of the rest

Sessions for Business and Entrepreneurs

If you are a business owner or entrepreneur we have scheduled several great sessions both Saturday and Sunday to help you along. You can just park yourself in the Ballroom or Balcony 2 for 8 great sessions designed for you.

Where to Eat Around Town

Coming in early or staying in town an extra day and wondering where to eat around Boston? Here are some of our favorite spots.

Coffee & Breakfast

We’ll have coffee all day Saturday and Sunday, but when you’re in Beantown, sometimes you just want a couple cups. Here’s some of our favorite coffee (and breakfast) spots around town:

Pavement Coffeehouse

736 Commonwealth Ave, Boston

This one is literally across the street from BU. We’re especially fans of their cold brew and affogato. If you need a quick break from WordCamp, this is the place to go.

Refuge Cafe

155 Brighton Ave, Allston

About a mile away from BU is Refuge Cafe in Allston. Take a nice walk, or hop the 57 bus for a quick trip. Refuge is a fun little space with plenty of seating if you want to work for a little while with your laptop or tablet. Be sure to try their Allston Sunrise breakfast sandwich or their vegan breakfast burrito.

1369 Coffee House

1369 Cambridge Street, Cambridge
757 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

If you’re staying in or around Cambridge, check out 1369 Coffee House in Inman or Central Square. This is a daily favorite for some of our team! They make great cold brew and iced lattes, or if you’re looking for something caffeine-free, check out their seasonal lemonades. Their daily scone selections are to die for.

Kupel’s Bakery

421 Harvard St, Brookline

Do you like bagels? We love bagels. Get ’em untoasted with cream cheese or try one of their great bagel sandwiches, like the Coolidge Corner. We’ve heard the bear claws are delish.

Lunch

Enjoy some of our favorite lunch spots:

Clover

Multiple locations

The Great Boston Area’s favorite local vegetarian chain of restaurants and food trucks, Clover is the perfect place to grab some lunch if you’re out and about town. You can’t go wrong with any of their sandwiches. If you’re looking for a larger lunch, try one of their awesome platters.

Paris Creperie

278 Harvard St, Brookline

If you’re staying at the Holiday Inn, Paris Creperie is a quick C (Green) Line train away. With a selection of sweet and savory crepes, Paris Creperie is sure to please. Try the Kale’n It or Lilli’s. If you have a strong sugar craving, try the Frozen Nutella Hot Chocolate or Latte.

Dinner

Need something a little more filling? Here are some dinner spots to check out:

Sunset Grill and Tap

130 Brighton Ave, Allston

This one might sound familiar — it’s a sibling restaurant of our after party venue, Sunset Cantina. With hundreds of beers on their menu, Sunset Grill and Tap’s a great place to head out with your friends for burgers and brews.

Otto Pizza

888 Commonwealth Avenue, Brookline

If you’re into non-traditional pizza, Otto is the way to go. Be sure to grab a slice of the Mashed Potato, Bacon & Scallion pizza, or our other favorite, Pulled Pork & Mango. If you’ve been to WordCamp Maine, this Northeast pizza chain should be familiar to you.

Island Creek Oyster Bar

In the mood for something a little fancier? Island Creek Oyster Bar is the place to be. With a magnificent raw bar, killer lobster rolls, and a full cocktail menu, Island Creek is the foodie’s paradise.

Just a tip: try to check this one out Friday or Monday; with home Redsox games on Saturday and Sunday, it’s sure to be packed. If you can, make a reservation online.
